Dr. Juliette Kristensen is a design historian working between visual and material culture. Her research interests lie in the technologies and techniques of writing, specifically the typewriter. She writes and speaks on the history of technology more broadly, on topics including eighteenth century automata, the typewriter, ouija boards, the Walkman and the iPod, as well as spiritualism, nineteenth-century magic, the history of punctuation and the architecture of Apple Stores.
Juliette produces and hosts the radio programme Paperweight: A Radio Newspaper on Resonance 104.4FM; and she is the publisher and managing editor of Paperweight: A Newspaper of Visual and Material Culture. Previously an editor of Journal of Visual Culture, she is a founder of Art Vapours, a feminist art publishing and broadcasting collective. She teaches at Goldsmiths, University of London; and at the Royal College of Art.
