19.09.13 meeting with Ludovic Coupaye

On 19 September 2013, Ludovic Coupaye was presented with this ten pound note and asked to talk about it. The ten pound note was being presented to the assembled group of researchers as an ‘object’ worthy of considered attention. In particular, it was being presented as the object that we will return to again and again over the course of the next ten months. Together, we will spend 100 hours with this particular bank note. Whilst each of us has also chosen an object from UCL’s museum collections – to study intensively – we will do this alone. The ten pound note is the central point around which we will all gather and, with luck, the discussion of this one object will provide us with ways to rediscover our own artefacts, time and again. See the researchers’ responses in these pages.
